Massimiliano Allegri has kicked off his time at AC Milan with defeat to little Varese.
Varese upset their friendly opponents 2-0 yesterday.
"I would have liked to commence my coaching reign here with a win, but after only four days of work - which took a lot out of the players - I did not expect a brilliant squad to appear," Allegri told Sport.it. "We did a few good things, and with some more attention, could have avoided the two goals conceded.
"We need to improve the way we move the ball around, but for this we need to improve our conditioning, something which is occurring now.
"The objective is for the side to be ready for the start of the Serie A season."
