Vitesse Arnhem fullback Alexander Buttner will undergo a Manchester United medical today.

The Daily Mail says United will bolster their ranks with the £3.9million signing of defender Buttner from Vitesse Arnhem.

The 23-year-old left-back flew to England on Sunday to undergo a medical with United ahead of penning a five-year contract.

Buttner, who can also operate at right-back, came through the youth system at Vitesse.

The Doetinchem-born player made 107 appearances for the Dutch club and had been named in Holland's provisional 36-man squad for Euro 2012, although did not eventually go to the finals.
