Aldridge: Kids made Carabao Cup final victory one of Liverpool's best

Liverpool hero John Aldridge says their Carabao Cup final triumph must be one of their best given the make-up of the team.

Aldridge wrote for the Liverpool Echo: "Every team wants to win that cup. City, United, they all do, take it from me. And Liverpool have won it!

"It's another trophy and we're now a couple ahead of Man United. The manner in which they did was quite incredible to be honest, when you've got virtually a full team out.

"We put Chelsea in their place with youngsters. The manner of the win is right up there. It's not like winning the European Cup. You can't put it in that bracket, with Istanbul. But as major finals go at Wembley, the manner of it makes sure it's up there with the very best.

"The team that finished that game, surely it must be the youngest ever average age for a side to pick up a trophy at Wembley. I don't know for sure, but it has to be close when you look at the age of the players that were left on that pitch. If you know the answer, please get in touch and let me know!"
