Luka Modric could yet leave Real Madrid for Al Hilal this year.

The veteran has resisted an approach from the Saudis as his Real contract runs down this month.

Modric remains hopeful of penning a new deal with Real, though things could quickly change, according to Okdiario's Eduardo Inda.

He said on El Chiringuito: "I said last week that the environment of Modric wanted to go, but the wife was the one who stopped the move to Saudi Arabia.

"The environment has raised the offer to the club and the board has said that the contract that has been offered for one season and 10 million net is not going to be retouched upwards.

"We'll see what happens. I think he will stay. Real Madrid has asked him to stay until the opening of the stadium, which is in December. Maybe he could be on the winter market, but Madrid has told me that there is no counteroffer."
