Ajax are interested in Liverpool sporting director Julian Ward.

Ward will leave Anfield at the end of the season after serving notice late, last year.

Ward is believed to want to take a break from football after spending over a decade working at Liverpool in a wide variety of roles. However, that stance has not deterred Ajax from targeting the highly-rated executive. The Dutch giants haven't properly replaced Marc Overmars since his departure a year ago.

De Telegraaf says Ward is one of the candidates currently being considered for the role of technical director.

It remains to be seen, though, if the Eredivisie champions would be able to entice the Reds chief, who is multilingual, into taking a role overseas once he leaves Merseyside.
