Agent confirms Moyes claim: Kroos was joining Man Utd before they sacked him

The long time agent of Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos says he was joining Manchester United before the sacking of David Moyes.

Volker Struth, in his new book, confirmed Moyes' past comments that he had a deal in place for the then Bayern Munich midfielder in 2014. Kroos at the time was preparing to leave Bayern, despite the pleas of coach Pep Guardiola for him to stay.

Moyes was in the process of rebuilding the ageing United squad he had inherited and had managed to bring Juan Mata to United from Chelsea that January market. The now West Ham United manager has detailed his pursuit of Kroos in the past.

Quoted by AS, Struth wrote: "In April 2014, United sent a copy of a contract to Kroos and David Moyes visited him in person.

"United's arguments and the contract were good signs. Kroos agreed to sign for United. I still have the copy, with only Toni's signature missing.

"On April 22, United fired Moyes and we had to start looking for another club again. In the end, Kroos signed for Real Madrid in the summer of 2014."

Since making the move to Real Madrid, Kroos has won everything in the game, including three Champions League titles and four Club World Cups.
