AC Milan striker Fernando Torres hopes to break back into the Spain squad.
Torres is on a two-year loan from Chelsea.
"I don't think that my cycle with Spain is over. I've got enough confidence in myself," Torres told Cuatro.
"I don't think a generational shift is needed. The change has already happened. You cannot replace one player with another one with the same qualities.
"There's no two identical players, but there are players that deserve explanations.
"The World Cup has been a disappointment - we all knew that it was our last time playing together.
"It was difficult to face Chile, as we weren't really prepared mentally. We knew what could happen next.
"Maybe we haven't been honest with ourselves, a thing we had always done in the past."
