AC Milan hoping to tie up Chelsea's Essien

Italian giants AC Milan are looking to sign Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien on loan or permanently.

The 31-year old Ghana international is seldom used by Blues boss Jose Mourinho and is almost certain to leave the London club this winter.

Reports suggest that new Rossoneri boss Clarence Seedorf is keen on Essien, who is not Champions League-tied to the Blues, meaning he would be available for the Round of 16 clash with Atletico Madrid.

Seedorf is hoping to sanction a six-month loan or an 18-month purchase of Essien who has played just five times in the Premier League this term.

Essien, who is also being tracked by Turkish powerhouse Galatasaray, spent last season on loan under Mourinho at Real Madrid.
