AC Milan boss Inzaghi frustrated despite fight-back against Empoli

AC Milan boss Pippo Inzaghi was left frustrated with their 2-2 draw against Empoli. Milan fought back from going 2-0 down thanks to goals from Fernando Torres and Keisuke Honda.

"It was a strange game. We knew it would be difficult, as I wasn't lying when I said Roma struggled and didn't deserve to win here," Inzaghi told Sky Sport Italia.

"Unfortunately we gave away the opening half-hour. I had told the side to be wary of free kicks, but a team that has ambitions to be great cannot concede goals like that.

"It was a game of two halves and we will try to fix these problems on set plays, which has been a Milan defect for a few years now.

"The team did show great strength to get back into it and after the first half-hour it was the usual Milan, as we hit the bar and had several other chances.

"It's a shame about that start. We tried to prepare as best we could, saying that if we held out for half-an-hour under Empoli's intensity they would run out of steam and open more spaces for us.

"Can I explain that first 30 minutes? No, I really can't," confessed Pippo.

"Set plays have always been a bit of a problem for Milan and once we changed to a zonal system. Yesterday and today I showed only video clips of Empoli set plays, as they have been playing with this Coach for three years. Maybe the DVD wasn't working...

"It's a real shame, as we would've won if it weren't for those free kicks. I think it's also an individual issue, as we need to be more determined on the marking."
