2013 failure will spur us on in 2014 - LA Galaxy's Keane

LA Galaxy skipper Robbie Keane believes the playoff elimination experienced by the club in 2013 will act as motivation for the 2014 MLS campaign.

The Galaxy won the 2011 and 2012 MLS Cups but fell short as they chased a three-peat, losing to Real Salt Lake in the Western Conference semi-finals.

Keane, who is back with the Galaxy after spending the offseason back in Ireland, feels that the failure of last season will spur he and his teammates to make up for that disappointment.

"You have to go into a season at the start very positive thinking that you have a great chance to win the championship. If you don't believe that then there's no point of being here," said Keane.

"Certainly, that will be driven into us over the next few weeks. All the players have to step up and do better than we did last year."
