Rondon left West Brom this month after a season on-loan with Newcastle United.

With Newcastle out of the running, West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini who previously managed Rondon at Malaga made an approach to the Baggies.

But Rondon admitted to The Sun: We never saw a proper offer.

I was waiting to see if Pellegrini would call and say, 'Do you want to come to West Ham? We have a good project. We are trying to go to the Europa League'.

But I never received that call and Rafa was calling me all the time, so I chose to go to China.

I can play again in the Premier League one day because I am the kind of striker people like in England scores goals, works really hard, runs, fights with the defender.

But I am now thinking about Dalian with Rafa. It's an amazing country and I am really happy."

He was the standout performer in the first half.

"Walking out there, with the amount of fans that have come from everywhere is surreal, really," James said. "Playing with those players is a dream come true.

"I don't think it (signing all those autographs on Thursday) will ever sink in, really.

"Walking out at Old Trafford is the big one. That is when it will probably sink in.

"But the amount of fans that came to training shows the support this club has got. The amount of fans that turned up tonight from all over is just amazing."

Gomes, who played 45 minutes in the win, told MUTV after the game that they had been encouraging Garner to have a go from outside the area and discussed how they would celebrate before kick off.

"We've got on to him about scoring more from outside the box," Gomes said. "We were speaking about it before the game, what we'd do if we score, he didn't celebrate, I told him he had to celebrate. He's happy and all the lads are buzzing for him."

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer also said, "I told him to get on the edge of the box and score with his first touch, I think it was two so I wasn't happy with that.

"Fantastic strike, the boy can play and I think he enjoyed tonight."

Second-half goals from Marcus Rashford and James Garner proved decisive at the Optus Stadium.

Pogba provided the assist for Rashford in his first game since stating a desire to leave Old Trafford, a view that has been reinforced twice since by his adviser Mino Raiola.

The midfielder declined to speak to reporters after the game, saying there was "no need" to do so.

Real Madrid and Juventus are both interested in the 26-year-old, although neither club has made a bid. United are understood to value Pogba at over 150m.

Shaw was forced off during the friendly win against Perth Glory.

Solskjaer said, "Luke he felt his hamstring was a little bit tight, so there was no point taking any more risk.

"You saw him still after he made a signal that he wanted to come off, he still kept on running, so it's not a bad one I think. It was just a precaution. We've been working hard and he felt some tightness there, so we'll have to assess him and probably rest him for a few days."

The Wales international played the majority of the first 45 minutes down the left wing before switching with Tahith Chong down the right for the final 10 minutes of the half and he spoke of his link-up play with left-back Ashley Young.

"There were quite a few times I got in behind, that's what we want to do, we want to try and get in behind the opposition not just play in front and that's what the gaffer has speaking to me a lot about doing that," James told MUTV after making his debut.

James also explained how he has already had conversations with United's full-backs over the relationships they can build.

"As soon as I came in I told the full backs my strengths and how I like to play. Youngy cut inside a lot and was playing me in quite a lot," James said. "That's important over the next few weeks to get that link up over the next few weeks to get the best out of them and the best out of me."
