It was a typical Barcelona performance.
"We know they can do that to teams. It was like us last week against Blackburn. They got us on song for the first time this season.
"We will play a strong side against Valencia because we want to be top of that group.
"Madrid are top of their group, Barcelona are top and Bayern Munich are top. It's not that you're afraid of them - but you want to keep them out of the road until later.
"Valencia will want to be top of the group, too, so it should be an interesting game.
"They changed their system for the first time I can remember when they played Villarreal a few weeks ago.
"They went five at the back which is unusual for them. They've always had a back four with one sitting in front but they might do something different when they come here."
Click here for the best Manchester United coverage on the 'net. This 20-day break has been good for me and we'll see if I can overcome this tendonitis and this great pain that I have."
Asked when he hoped to return to action, the Euro 2008 player of the tournament said: "I'm always optimistic, I like to think positively and I hope to be there against Valencia.
"It depends on how I feel and the training sessions this week. The doctors and physios tell me I could be there to face Valencia but we'll see how things go."
Read more on Tribal Football Tue, 11 Oct 2011 04:00:46 +1100 Rooney a no-show for Man Utd against Valencia
Wayne Rooney will not travel with the Manchester United squad for Wednesday's Champions League match against Valencia because of an ankle injury, reports BBC Sport.United had hoped the 24-year-old striker would be fit for the crunch tie at the Mestalla Stadium.
But Rooney, who was substituted in the second half of Sunday's 2-2 draw with Bolton due to the problem, now joins winger Ryan Giggs on the sidelines.
Giggs has a hamstring problem that will rule out for the next two weeks.
The 24 year old has endured a poor start to the season, with Reds boss Sir Alex Ferguson admitting last week that the striker is feeling the strain of being in the media spotlight after allegations about his private life.

Need your Manchester United news fix? "In the last meeting I told them (Valencia) that they (Barcelona) had asked me how much he (Mata) would cost, but the president told me they had no interest in selling him."
After that, Mata senior had expected his son's contract to be renewed.
"It's true that there has been interest (from Barcelona) and normally when that happens, the club renews your contract or sells you, but they haven't done one thing or the other, which is not very normal," he said.
Valencia claim Mata has three years still left on his contract, but the player and his father believe only two remain.
"That was a problem from last year. There was a proposal which included one more year and we didn't think the offer was good, so we didn't accept that year, which means there are only two years left on his contract," Mata senior said.
Mata says his son is happy at Valencia, where he is a fans' idol, but claims he is not receiving the treatment he deserves from the club.
"My son is thrilled to be in Valencia because of the recognition he gets from the fans. In the streets and everywhere he goes, he's an idol. But that is not combined with the (correct) attitude and recognition on behalf of the club," he said.
Read more on Tribal Football Fri, 08 Apr 2011 11:30:36 +1000 Man Utd midfielder Fletcher: Valencia no weaker without Villa, Silva
Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher expects Valencia to be as strong as ever tonight.
The perception was that, with the departures of David Villa and David Silva, Valencia would not be anywhere near the force they once were. And yet Unai Emery has led his men to the top of La Liga, and they are bouncing after a 4-0 win in an opening Group C away trip to Turkish side Bursaspor.
They are unbeaten in 11 home European matches, although they won only five of them, while United have won just once in 18 visits to Spain, drawing eight and losing nine.
"It's going to be a difficult match," Fletcher told "People say it's not the same Valencia because they've lost Villa and Silva. But we've seen at United that you can lose good players and others come in and step up to the mark. We've seen that from them this season, they're top of the league in Spain and they've made a fantastic start in the Champions League."
Click here for the best Manchester United coverage on the 'net. "People might say it is not the same Valencia because they have lost Villa and Silva.
"But as we have seen at Manchester United, when you lose good players others step up to the mark and take on more responsibility. They have had a fantastic start."United cannot say the same.
With Antonio Valencia and Ryan Giggs ruled out through injury, United do not have an abundance of wide players to call upon as they try to avoid defeat in one of Europe's most impressive stadiums.
"We have picked up experience of playing in Europe and we have confidence," said Fletcher. "We know how to cope with the travel and the different styles of play.
"Against Spanish sides, keeping the ball is key. If you give the ball away cheaply, you might not see it for a few minutes and they will punish you."
Read more on Tribal Football Sun, 27 Feb 2011 17:45:41 +1100 Man Utd boss Ferguson hints at Cleverley recall from Wigan
Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson admits he may recall Tom Cleverley from his loan at Wigan Athletic.
Cleverley is at the DW for the season, but United have an option to recall him in January.
"Tom has done excellently as well but the agreement with him was always that we would review it in January," said Ferguson.
"I have a fantastic relationship with Wigan so I have not discussed it any further than that.
"The only problem is that we have lost Park Ji-sung to the Asia Cup for the whole of January and I don't have Antonio Valencia back until the end of February, so we are a bit light in that respect in terms of wide positions."
It's all kicking off again!
