He said, "Bernardo is a fantastic player. He is a natural player.

"He's been doing great and he has a long career ahead of him.

But last season was fantastic, his best season at Manchester City. And I think he was one of the most important players who helped City lift the title."

United's current predicament greatly saddens Nani, who believes manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer needs to change his troops' mentality as well as bring in players capable of improving his squad.

"United need more world-class players. Change something, attitude on the pitch," the Portuguese told Omnisport.

"I remember from my time with [former manager] Alex Ferguson, a lot of games we weren't playing our best, we weren't playing beautiful football but in 15 minutes we played with our hearts and to score goals.

"We run, fight for each ball. That's the way we get all the results. They must have more desire to win every battle on the pitch, every ball, every challenge because just like that they're going to improve.

"It's hard to do well when the past is still there. All the big names and important people who made the club achieve so many trophies, they left.

"Now, most of them are still around but not doing what they were doing in the past like coaching or playing.

Now, they need to build a new strong team, a new strong mentality. This takes time. This has been the problem at Manchester United at the moment."

Despite United's torrid end to the campaign, Nani believes Solskjaer can guide the club back to glory.

The Orlando City ace, who spent eight years at Old Trafford, said: He's been there in the past.

He told Omnisport: "Obviously, he has a different role now but he knows the mentality and how the club achieved what they have.

"But he has some good stuff to show the players, to change the mentality, to take them on the right way to fight for all the competitions. And try to be as quick as possible, the old United."

Kaka, 35, has decided to hang up his boots after winding up his career at Orlando City.

"My cycle as a professional player ends here," Kaka confirmed.

I needed a bit of time to think and make my decision with calm. I spoke to some people very close to me my parents, my brother, my girlfriend and my brother's wife five people. It was a time for prayer.

In a very conscious manner, I came to the conclusion that the time has come to end my career as a professional player."

Kaka is leaving Orlando City, though hasn't ruled out playing on.

"I've been here for three days, I have really nice memories," Kaka said, speaking to Milan TV.

We just talked, about some ideas. I still need time to decide if I'll play football or not. It's a delicate moment for me, and I explained that to Fassone too.

I know there's a chance to come back to Milan, but first I have to decide whether to keep playing or not.

It's all still hypothetical so it's early to talk about it. I already like being close to Milan.

I'm always in love with Milan, the relationship with the club is brilliant and I told Fassone that too. For a Brazilian it's a special thing to fall in love with an Italian club like this.

It's wonderful to see the club and the fans again."

Kaka was also asked for his opinions on the new Milan board.

The idea is clear for everyone: to bring Milan back to the top. The objectives are fixed.

It depends on the results on the pitch and the decisions that will be taken. Talking about a timescale is complicated, you need to evaluate things as you proceed."

However, the Brazilian insists he's not retiring.

He spoke at a Press conference this evening with Majority Owner Flavio Augusto da Silva and CEO Alex Leitao.

I want to announce that I am not going to renew my contract with Orlando City," Kaka told the gathered media.

That is all I want to announce. I will honour the Orlando shirt to the end of the season.

He added: I want to take the opportunity to clarify what I said (to Globoesporte). Pain won't be what is behind my decision. You can ask any football player and they will all have pain.

My decision not to renew the contract was not based on a physical issue and neither will the next step in my career.

What's next for me is just this moment, so the only thing I know right now is that I won't be an Orlando City player next season. That is the only certainty I have.

"I feel the need for new challenges."

Kaka, of Orlando City, admits coaching could be an avenue to pursue.

"Following in Zidane's footsteps is a good idea," said Kaka.

"He retired, took some time out from the game, discovered what he really wanted to do, studied, did the courses and started out with a youth team. That's the way I'd like to go about it as well."

Kaka, with AC Milan in 2009, was the subject of a world record 112m bid from City that January.

"The negotiations were indeed advanced. The only thing that separated me from City was a signature," he recalled to Four Four Two.

"It came to a point where all the figures and precise details had already been discussed. The salary offered to me was many times higher than I earned at Milan. I went to see how it would be to play football in England, how my daily routine at the club would look, how difficult it would be for my children and wife to move. All of these things flew through my mind.

"I had absolutely no idea that City wanted to sign me until they had filed an official bid at Milan.

"I came to the conclusion that it was not yet the right time to go to City, and the main reason was the uncertainty about the construction of the squad and how fast that process would run.

"I was asked to exchange one of the most successful clubs in Europe with a very rich history for a team that only was at the start of a new project, where I was told, I would be the first big player. It was safer to stay at Milan."
