The 27-year-old, who scored four goals in 34 games for Oldham last season, was released at the end of the campaign and has signed an undisclosed length short-term deal at Home Park.

He was Everton's youngest ever first-team player when he made his debut aged 16 at the start of the 2008-09 season.

The Liverpool-born player has also spent time at Tranmere Rovers.

Baxter twice failed drugs tests while at Sheffield United, but has since talked of how he has turned his life around following the birth of his daughter and the influence of Everton chairman Bill Kenwright.

Sky Sports says Leicester have rejected an approach for young goalkeeper Iversen from Championship side Brentford.

The Danish Under-21 international is yet to make a senior appearance for the Foxes and spent time on loan at Oldham Athletic last season, featuring in all-but-four of his loan side's matches in League Two.

He has extensive Premier League 2 experience with City, who he joined from Danish side Esbjerg in January 2016.

Iversen was the subject of an enquiry from the Bees, whose interest in the 21-year-old is as a possible alternative target to Blackburn Rovers' Spanish 'keeper David Raya.

Iversen recorded an impressive 15 clean sheets in 42 League Two outings for Oldham last season and is now interesting the Millers.

It's not a goalkeeping issue, because I've got two goalkeepers in the building, but I will definitely be signing a goalie," Rotherham boss Paul Warne told BBC Radio Sheffield's Football Heaven.

I personally like under-23 goalkeepers, I like the way they are, I like the way they play, I like the fact they are more aggressive off their line and they can kick with both feet, which is crucial.

If you get your loans right, great. The one that we all like is the one we want to wait for."

Asked if he was referring to Iversen, Warne added: You know I'm not going to comment on that for obvious reasons, but he's definitely one of that type. I do like him. But it would be remiss to say."

But Scholes last just 31 days this season in charge of Oldham Athletic, while Neville flopped with Valencia.

In an interview with RT Sport, Mourinho stated: "But the experience to be there, we have even in England, former top players, amazing in front of the screen, they go to football clubs, and after two months, goodbye, let's go home because this is not right for us.

So there are things you have it, or you don't have it."

The former Oldham Athletic has been hit with the charges after placing 140 bets during a four-year period, reports the Mirror.

Scholes, 44, was co-owner of Salford City during the time between August 2015 and January 2019 when the bets were placed and FA rules prevent anyone working within the game from gambling on football.

Manchester United legend Scholes has become the latest high profile star to fall foul of FA rules on gambling on football.

It is believed that Scholes' offence is more likely to result in a fine and warning rather than lengthy suspension.

The difference is that while Scholes' bets would potentially break the rules, they are believed to have been placed purely for personal enjoyment and without using insider knowledge.

The FA statement read: Paul Scholes has been charged with misconduct in relation to the FA's betting rules.

It is alleged he placed 140 bets on football matches, contrary to FA Rule E8, between 17 August 2015 and 12 January 2019. He has until 26 April 2019 to respond to the charge."

Scholes lasted just 31 days as manager with the Latics.

He told the Daily Mail: "I had heard loads of stories about interference and stuff. The first three weeks there was little bits. Not so much "leave him out, he can't play, don't play him, play the player I said", there was nothing like that in the first three weeks.

"There were subtle hints, yeah of course, but I'm not stupid enough to not realise what they are trying to do. In the last week there was a couple of issues with a couple of players. Experienced pros that I felt didn't deserve to be treated the way the club wanted to treat them.

"I didn't need the hassle of that. I really like the players, really respected them and would have done anything for them. But once I get told 'don't play him', that's when it is time for me to go...

"That only happened once, but that was the end of it. There were subtle hints along the way, but that was the end of it."

Manchester United hero Scholes stunned League Two Oldham by quitting as boss earlier this month after just 31 days.

The Latics now have Pete Wild back in caretaker charge until the end of the season ahead of Saturday's home game with Grimsby.

But the Mirror says Oldham are considering a summer move for Port Vale's former Macclesfield boss Askey.

Askey, 54, has impressed at League Two strugglers Vale after taking charge in February on a contract until the end of the season.

Vale have lost just once in five games to boost their hopes of beating the drop.
