Scouts from Chelsea, Leicester City, Mallorca, Sevilla, Lech Poznan, Bayern Munich and Koln also attended.

Despite constant speculation surrounding a move for Fernandes, United allowed the market to shut without making a firm move.

Sancho broke a 52-year-old Bundesliga record as he inspired Borussia Dortmund to victory over Cologne.

His goal in the 3-1 away win was the 15th league strike of his fledgling career, beating a record which has stood since 1967.

Aged just 19 years 151 days, Sancho has become the youngest player ever to hit 15 Bundesliga goals.

In doing so, he beat the previous record held by former West Germany international Horst Koppel - set in 1967 - by 34 days.

Goals from Danny Ings and Pierre-Emile Hjbjerg either side of the interval earned a 2-0 victory over German club 1. FC Kln in front of 14,871 inside St Mary's.

"The most important was to get ready physically and mentally. I think we did a good job, a win and a clean sheet and we're looking forward to the start of the Premier League," he said.

I think it's just to find the balance between high press, deep pressing and midfield press because there were some moments of the game where we could not press but we tried to do, we are sometimes a little bit too brave.

I think that's positive and when we find the balance we will be a really nasty opponent.

There are things to improve but we still have seven days to work on and we'll be ready on Saturday."

It is regarded as one of the most important technical achievements in modern football: the video referee. In the past season, he was to be used for a test run in Germany, as well as in various other European countries. At the end of the season you want to sit down and see what was good, what needs to be improved and whether you want to keep this construct at all. There are two completely different points of view.

Some people believe that a properly appointed video referee will make matches fairer and referee decisions fairer on balance. Others condemn the video referee because he also does not always lead to a 100% correct decision, but "the spirit of football" would be lost a bit. What remains is the question of what innovation really makes sense and how much technology really has to be needed to make a sport like football attractive. Source: Openodds.com.

The fact that the old men at Fifa are not big fans of innovations has been proven sufficiently over the past decades. All the more astonishing that two groundbreaking technical aids such as goal line technology and the video referee, which has long been the norm in other sports, have now been introduced within a relatively short period of time. The question remains whether the sport really needs an additional technical component. Because, and here the critics of the technological innovations are right, sport has been functioning for more than a century even without these technical aids.

Each team has spread its moments throughout the season in which it has to accept decisions that were wrong in hindsight. penalty kicks for swallows that you get whistled against you, goals scored from a clear offside position, fouls that were not punished or scenes where a player should have been sent off. Such scenes were to be minimized by the introduction of a video referee. The problem is that even with a video referee and other technical support, you will never get the discussion material out of the world.

This season, for example, the video referees had to do without calibrated offside lines. This was quite simply because FIFA had not yet licensed any provider accordingly. Calibrated offside lines will be available for the first time at the 2018 World Cup in Russia. So everything that the video referee had decided in the past season in terms of offside, he had to decide on the basis of the pictures available to him with a sense of proportion. There was no 100% guarantee. The fact is, however, that the video assistant was usually right here and a whole series of goals scored from an offside position were rightly not given.

In the area of video evidence, there are two ways in which a decision can be made. Either the video assistant in Cologne gives a clear indication on which to base the decision. Or the referee can look at a scene again on a specially provided monitor and then evaluate it on the basis of the pictures that are made available to him here. But as with many other decisions in football, penalty scenes are always a bit of a matter of opinion. In situations where one referee gives a clear penalty, another referee gives a completely different score.

The video referee can help with clear rotten games in the penalty area. But the last season showed that he wasn't always completely right. And as some football talk shows have shown after match days, hand games in the penalty area can also be facilitated from different directions and thus evaluated differently. A 100% justice cannot be brought about here also with a video referee.

The video assistant shall also intervene if a referee has chosen the wrong penalty from his point of view. In some cases this has already saved players from a red card this season, in other cases it has led to offenders being sent off instead of getting away with a warning. But here, too, it is true - the view of pictures alone will never lead to 100% justice. Because some scenes, which may look really brutal in slow motion, were nothing more than a simple liberation from an enemy embrace in real time. And even though a large number of cameras now capture what is happening on the square, the video assistants cannot see everything.

The Video Assistant ensures that fewer mistakes are made at the end of the day than without. DAS, of course, makes the mistakes that still happen with a video assistant all the more annoying and shifts the focus of the injured clubs and the fans all the more on these very wrong decisions. This leads to a critical view of the video referee. As well as the fact that you have to get used to the fact that goals are only cheered when the sign comes that no video evidence will suffocate the cheering. Whether this kills the emotion in football - one can confidently doubt it. The video assistant definitely creates more justice. And football has long been a million-dollar business, with a lot of jobs and livelihoods attached to it, is reason enough to ensure that relegations, championships, ascents and other decisions that depend on the table are made as fairly as possible.

Anyone who has ever stood on the soccer field knows that as a spectator you can be a part of the excitement, but you only experience the real excitement and the real tingling when you are right in the middle of the game. You can experience a similar feeling if you increase the tension a little and get into the game yourself - for example by placing a corresponding sports bet on one of the upcoming games.

Bundesliga: Hygiene problems in at least three stadiums
- the following is a sponsored article

Read more on Tribal Football - the following is a sponsored article

There are serious hygiene problems in some Bundesliga stadiums. This not only has an impact on the professionals who compete for the clubs in question - the hygiene deficiencies can also become a problem for the fans.

Food and water pipes in the individual stadiums of the current Bundesliga clubs were examined. In Frankfurt, Cologne and Bremen there were negative conspicuities. In addition to food, beverages were also affected. In addition, the shower water of the professional soccer players. Corresponding documents proving this are available to the Bavarian Broadcasting Corporation.

Foreign yeasts and germs in Cologne stadium beer

In Cologne, the stadium's tap process was criticised. This allowed foreign yeasts and coliform germs to enter the tapped beer. However, this should not be dangerous. And: the 1. FC Kln reacted immediately to the problem and had the beer pipes in the entire stadium complex cleaned directly.

So the problem there should already be solved.

Legionella in Frankfurt: Cases are accumulating

The anomalies in Frankfurt were much more serious. In the past few months, Legionella has repeatedly occurred here - thus polluting the water in the stadium. The result: the showers in the players', coaches' and referees' areas were contaminated. But even here there should be no health problems, although the limit values were clearly exceeded. Here appropriate filters were installed, which clean the water again in addition.

Otherwise Legionella could lead to serious illnesses. Flu symptoms and pneumonia would be possible by inhaling with water vapour in the shower and sauna.

Due to very long pipes the water stagnates again and again in the Frankfurt stadium, whereby Legionella have an easy possibility to multiply. Similar cases also occurred in Darmstadt, Dresden and Mnchengladbach.

Listeria make fish rolls unappetizing in Bremen

The currently most serious case, however, continued to occur in the north. Listeria was found in a fish roll with smoked salmon in Bremen's Weserstadion. These pathogens are especially dangerous for pregnant women, for the elderly and for anyone who has problems with the immune system. In Bremen, however, there is said to have been no health hazard, but there is an urgent need for action.

So the clubs have to do something and offer more hygiene for the spectators and also for the players. In particular, when it comes to contaminated food and drink, there must be no tolerance and there is an urgent need to work on it.

Tests take place again and again in the stadiums

Such tests take place again and again in the stadiums and this not only in the football upper house - also in subclass stadiums such investigations are accomplished.

This also shows that the individual clubs and stadium operators cannot rest on their laurels, but that optimisations and improvements are necessary again and again. Seven Bundesliga stadiums were scrutinised this season, including a second division stadium. The exact stadiums to be checked are not announced in advance - thus authentic results are possible in the end.

Stadium visits still very popular with fans

Visits to the stadium are still the highlights for fans and spectators. Even if the tickets are often expensive and some visitors can only afford a visit from time to time, beer and bratwurst (or fish rolls) are simply part of it. Therefore one should be allowed to expect a perfect quality as a fan.

By the way: sports betting and football betting are also very popular around the Bundesliga and of course other leagues. Above all, of course, with reputable providers, who end up paying out the profits reliably. At Sportwetten.org you will find an informative overview and know where to place a bet.

This often also offers increased gaming fun for those who cannot be there live in the stadium - but instead sit in front of the TV or watch the games via radio and live ticker.

This is certainly not comparable to a visit to a stadium, but with pay TV, live radio reports and even live tickers on the Internet, one has more and more the feeling of somehow being right there.

Improved hygiene for the new season?

With the germ contamination currently uncovered and the clubs announcing their intention to change this, it should be possible to assume that hygiene standards will be improved in the coming season. In any case, it can be assumed that the stadiums concerned will continue to be closely scrutinised so that fans, as well as players, can be sure that the water, food and drink will be of the highest quality.

In addition, it would at least be worth considering carrying out regular, official inspections of beer, bratwurst and other foodstuffs in the stadiums. In this way, the quality could be increased bit by bit and for the visitors of the games it would always be ensured that all products can really convince.

Provided that the players on the pitch also convince and offer the fans a high-class game, the football afternoon is saved and you can relax and experience the still special atmosphere in the many stadiums throughout Germany.

The Sun says Cardiff are ready to make a 2m offer for Maja.

But Sunderland want 4m for their striker, who has banged in 16 goals this term.

Maja, 20, is out of contract at the end of the season and has rejected the offer of a new deal from the League One club.

The Black Cats have not given up hope of keeping him, but Celtic plus German clubs Stuttgart, Cologne and Wolfsburg are interested.

They also know they risk losing him for minimal compensation in the summer so are willing to cash in on him now.

Mundo Deportivo says agents have already offered at least three defenders to Barca in recent days.

Representatives of Diego Llorente (Real Sociedad), Jorge Mere (Cologne) and Andreas Christensen (Chelsea) have all made contact to offer their clients.

For the moment, however, Barca are keeping their powder dry as they wait to see if Umtiti can recover on schedule.
