Ter Stegen joined Barca in 2014 from Borussia Monchengladbach.

Now the club's outright No1, he told Sport Buzzer: "I do not think so far, very honestly. We feel totally at home in Barcelona, at the club but also in the city.

"We may even stay there after my career. But we may also want to go home. There are some excellent clubs in Germany, without a doubt. But I do not know if I will go back to Germany on the pitch."

Max Eberl, director of sport at Xhaka's former club Borussia Monchengladbach, claims the Swiss midfielder was close to a Potters loan move after a disastrous start to life at the German club.

Eberl told the Rheinische Post: Granit's career in the first 18 months at Gladbach did not run [as smoothly] as sliced bread.

He was almost ready to be loaned to Stoke and I told him, 'If you go to Stoke now, you'll never end up at a big club but you could'."

Xhaka is embarking on his fourth season at Arsenal, and has scored 11 times in 135 appearances.

He is now Unai Emery's captain at the Emirates, as well as skipper of the Switzerland national team.

Le Telegramme says the Canaries have made a 16.6m offer for the youngster, who was linked with Arsenal earlier this summer.

The proposal should be enough to convince Lorient as it would be a record sale for a L2 player.

The 21 year-old has attracted interest also from Germany, where Borussia Monchengladbach are keen.

But Norwich are now a step away from signing Claude-Maurice today.

Spurs are chasing a deal for the German defensive utility before Thursday's transfer deadline.

But Rose has made it clear he doesn't want to see Ginter sold.

"Matze has a central role as a leading player - I cannot imagine this without him at the moment!"

Rose handed Ginter the captain's armband for their 2-2 friendly draw with Chelsea on the weekend.

"I talked to Yann (Sommer) before the game. It was not a problem for him. I wanted to show Matze that he is a very important factor for me."

The Dane feels their 2-2 draw at Borussia Monchengladbach was the ideal preparation for the clash.

The 23-year-old admitted it was "special" to return to Borussia-Park where he played on-loan for two seasons, but now his focus is on final preparations before they begin their league campaign with a tasty fixture at Old Trafford.

He told the club's website, "We are going into the Premier League with a good feeling. We want to be where we have to be. We are going to be ready. Pre-season is always hard. We have had some difficult games and this was a good test for us.

"It's going to be very difficult on Sunday. We still need a bit more but we have a week to prepare. It's going to be very tough, especially away, but I am sure we will be ready."

The France international had not featured in pre-season due to a knee injury but came on for the final 18 minutes in Germany.

Lampard said, "That was always the plan. He's working a little bit now and it was just to give him the feeling of match time as he hasn't been able to do that yet as it's an awkward injury. I just wanted him to feel it and us to see it as you cannot replicate it unless you do it.

"It was a good opportunity to do that for him and we'll work hard on getting him fit. Who knows if he'll be ready for next week or not, but we'll work hard for that. We also have to be a bit careful as he's played so many games over the past three seasons and we don't want to rush him back if it's going to be a negative. We'll do our best to get him back."

The Blues allowed Borussia Monchengladbach to score twice before they conceded two second-half penalties, slotted by Tammy Abraham and Ross Barkley, to give Chelsea a 2-2 draw to add to the three victories that preceded it in the pre-season programme.

"I think we should have won," declared Lampard after the game.

"I was not happy with the first-half performance, we conceded two bad goals, one was our mistake, the other was a counter-attack, and we weren't as we should be in the first half.

"At half-time I asked for a reaction and the team gave a big reaction. We could have scored a lot more goals, their goalkeeper has been fantastic for them. I think we should have won but it was a very tough game, a good exercise for us against a very good team."

Yann Sommer in the Gladbach goal impressed with a collection of good saves but what happened at that end of the pitch does not distract from some concerns at the other.

"We can't concede goals like we did today," Lampard emphasised.

"That is obviously important for us to be where we want to be, so now we are preparing for next week. We have Manchester United next Sunday, we have a long week, the players deserve some rest as it has been a busy pre-season with travel and games but now we have a big week where we work, focus even more, do some more fitness work as a team and be ready.

"We have a huge start to the season with Manchester United and then Liverpool in the Super Cup, so these games are good for us but we still need to improve.

"It will be very difficult going to Old Trafford, with the atmosphere as it will be for the first game, a quality team, a competitor every year with ourselves for Champions League places and above, so it is even more important that we are prepared. We are a team that has worked very hard but we need to be absolutely focused because it is going to be a tough game."

The Dane is set to face his former loan club today.

He told the club's website, "I enjoyed being there and playing football there. Everything was so local. You had Dusseldorf which was a big city 20 minutes away. I lived in Monchengladbach in an area where some of the players lived. Because Monchengladbach is not the biggest city, so much is about football. When you go to the shop, you'd see the players' faces on different things, you'd see flags out the cars, flags on every little shop.

"At the same time, when you went out with the players, people were so nice and you could still be private. I enjoyed the whole experience of being there.

"I could feel in the first couple of games it was big step because I had only played youth team football and a handful of cup games for Chelsea before that. You gain a lot from training with the first team at Chelsea, but game-time is important, and for me stepping up from playing in the Youth Cup or the UEFA Youth League, it was a big step going directly into the team and playing in the Bundesliga.

"The football on the pitch was quick, a lot of back and forth. I learned a lot from that. You'd be put in difficult situations as a back four, especially as it was so new to me at the time."

Gladbach are reluctant to lose Ginter and will insist the 25 year-old will only leave for their set price.

"Matze is an absolute leader. I cannot imagine being here without him," said Gladbach coach Marco Rose this week.
