Germany plays host to Portugal at the Allianz Arena in Munich in the semi-final of the Nations League. It’s been a long season for players on both sides, but can they pull it out of the bag on the international stage?

The match will take place in Munich at 8 pm (GMT) on Wednesday, June 4th, just four days after the Champions League final takes place in the same stadium. In this article, I’ll preview the match for you, give you my top betting tip, and bring you all of the latest odds from 20bet.

Portugal vs Germany – UEFA Nations League semi-final preview

Postseason international matches in a summer with no World Cup or Euros forthcoming can often be quite drab affairs. However, there is a place in the final up for grabs, and the managers of both teams will want to win the Nations League, even if some of their star players aren’t quite as motivated.

Key match facts

Before we look at the teams, here’s all the need-to-know info about the game:

Match: Germany vs Portugal ⚽
Competition: UEFA Nations League semi-final 🏆
Kick-off time: 8 pm (GMT) 🕖
Venue: Allianz Arena 🏟
Location: Munich, Germany 🇩🇪

Germany – Free-scoring and never boring

The Germans have been in fine form since Spain knocked them out of the Euros last summer. They stormed through the Nations League group phase undefeated, scoring a whopping 18 goals in the process. In the quarterfinals, they beat Italy 5-4 on aggregate, with a 2-1 away win and a 3-3 home draw.

Key players:

  • Florian Wirtz – The Bayer Leverkusen midfielder has been in fine form this season and looks to have secured a multi-million euro move to Liverpool.
  • Jamal Musiala – The young attacking midfielder has been in fine form for club and country this season.

Portugal – Off the back of a decent NL campaign

Portugal also went through their Nations League campaign undefeated, but they didn’t have an easy time against Denmark in the quarter-finals. After a 0-1 away defeat, it took a couple of extra-time goals following a Kasper Schmeichel injury to progress.

Key players

  • Cristiano Ronaldo – At 40 years of age, he’s still the country’s top NL scorer with 6 goals.
  • João Palhinha – The Bayern Munich defensive midfield is well acquainted with the stadium and most of the opposition players.

My top tip: Germany win + BTTS at 3.7 with 20bet

Despite sneaking through, Germany leaked four goals against Italy in the quarters, and I see Portugal as a similar standard team with arguably more of an attacking threat. That being said, I think they will still have enough to win this home leg, but I’m confident that they will concede.

The last H2H match between these two European heavyweights was an all-timer in the Euro 2021 group stages, when Germany beat Portugal 4-2. With all of this in mind, my top tip for this match is a Germany win + both teams to score (BTTS) combo bet. You can back this at odds of 3.7 at 20bet.

Germany vs Portugal odds

  • Top tip: Home win + BTTS
  • Best odds for tip: 3.7

  • Draw odds: 3.5
  • Away win odds: 4.1
