Villarreal coach Marcelino was upset with his players after defeat at Real Madrid.

Real were comfortable 4-1 winners on Sunday.

Marcelino said: "About the match, I think it was disappointing, the game and the result. I didn't think we could play a game as poor as this one. We contribute to it.

"The numbers after four months of competition demonstrate a reality. We have done well. In some like today, very bad. We have played more bad games than good ones. This has been the worst by far. This is how we are. There is no excuse to come and play against Real Madrid in this wonderful stadium and do what we have done... The first person responsible is the coach.

"Very below the level. We have conceded very easy goals. It shows enormous passivity and with so little concentration they sentence you. We have made mistakes in all the goals. The third is something that we resolve inadequately."
