Juventus president Coboll Gigli: Pay-off reluctance may save Allegri

Juventus president Giovanni Coboll Gigli would understand if Max Allegri were to stay next season.

Allegri has a year to run on his Juve deal.

Cobolli Gigli told TMW: "The question is already an answer. We expected something more, we had been sensitised by what he had done up until Empoli, disappointment is legitimate. I know Ferrero, not the environment, I worked there and I know he is a balanced man and capable of managing a club.

"Basically the objective must remain to at least enter the Champions League and then try to rebalance a budget plagued by bad choices made by the old owners. Then it will also be necessary to do well in the Club World Cup, for which Juve qualified with a bit of luck.

"Allegri has an onerous contract, money is important. If he were to change coach, Juventus would have an additional cost to bear. It doesn't mean that it is compulsory to keep him though... He's a capable guy, he's done well in his career, if he reaches his goal I think it is logical to keep him, also for economic reasons.

"The criticism of Allegri for the interview he gave is exaggerated, he has always managed to maintain a phlegmatic calm, except on this last occasion where he lost his temper a bit."
