Jose Mourinho rejects offer from Chelsea and decides to stick with Roma

In today's football, there is hardly a manager as popular as Jose Mourinho was when he came to Chelsea. The controversial Portuguese conquered and shocked Europe with Porto and then came to Chelsea as a star of the transition period, which started the era of Roman Abramovich.

Mourinho immediately gave himself the nickname the Special One at the presentation, and from then on, euphoria began around him wherever he appeared. He was a bigger star than all Chelsea players! He sat on the Blues bench for three years and won all domestic trophies but did not deliver the main one - the Champions League trophy. And he had to go. In 2013 he came back to Chelsea as he stated that Inter and Chelsea are his only true loves, but for Chelsea, he always feels something special. And again, he had success in domestic competitions, but nothing significant in UEFA Champions League which was Abramovich's obsession, and Mourinho had to go again.

Chelsea is in a desperate situation

Now Roma's manager Jose Mourinho is one of the best in football history. The Portuguese has won everything there is to win and is the first coach to have Champions League, Europa League, and Conference League trophies in his rich treasury.

Chelsea this season seems to have lost the "compass" and the team has experienced a lot of turbulence, including the change of three coaches, and the management wants to bring in a quality and experienced name to replace interim coach Frank Lampard next season. Mourinho is one of the most loved managers among Chelsea fans because in the past the team won three Premier League titles under his leadership and he always kept the team among the best team in England and Europe. He is the master of mind games which helps and motivates the team throughout all season and it seems that Chelsea needs someone who can keep them "awake" all season long.

Many world media reported that the management of the "blues" contacted Jose Mourinho and offered him a return to the club that experienced great success under his leadership, but the Portuguese's response was negative. And while he is still considering what he will do next year, having received an astronomical offer from Saudi Arabia, Chelsea has contacted him offering a managerial position in London Blues for the third time. Admittedly, the Blues sent an underestimating offer to Rome, with the desire for Mourinho to come to Stamford Bridge for a "casting" as if he were an unproven expert and not the man who brought them three Premier League titles, the FA Cup, three League Cups, and the Community Shield in two occasions.

Mourinho turned down the opportunity to become Chelsea coach for the third time, explaining that he wants to finish his contract with Roma, whose coach he became last season and managed to triumph in the UEFA Conference League. Mourinho brought the first European trophy to the Italian club after 61 years! The last international cup was won back in 1961. The Portuguese expert wrote new pages of history in Tirana. In the final, his team defeated Feyenoord (1:0), and Nicolo Zaniolo scored a goal worthy of the Cup. After the match, Jose made a real show in Albania, he immediately raised his hand and showed the number five as a clear allusion to the five European trophies he has. Roma fans celebrate and adore him and that attention is something that Mourinho enjoys.

Recently, he confirmed to the Italian media that he wants to stay in Rome and, with some good reinforcements, try to attack the very top of Serie A next year. Mourinho's stay in Roma, if that scenario is correct, produces a series of consequences. The chances of Paulo Dybala and Chris Smalling staying in the team are growing rapidly, while Tami Abraham and Roger Ibanez could be sacrificed in the name of filling the bank for new reinforcements and respecting the financial fair play of UEFA.

With two months left in the season, Mourinho seems to be targeting the Europa League rather than the Championship as a way to return to the Champions League.
