Dundee Utd new boy Sneijder opted against joining Wesley at Galatasaray

Dundee United's latest signing Rodney Sneijder has revealed that he rejected a move to Galatasaray in favour of the Scottish club.

The midfielder was offered the chance to team up with his older sibling and Dutch legend Wesley Sneijder in Turkey, but he opted against the move so that he could step out of his famous brother's shadow.

Sneijder said: "There was some interest from Turkey and Cyprus, also from the Netherlands.

"But I wanted to make a move to another country. Galatasaray were the club in Turkey, they wanted me to go there, but it would have been difficult for me.

"I turned that move down because I want my own career.

"If I go to Galatasaray I'm with my brother, but I want to make my own career.

"That is why I made this choice, to step out from his shadow. Wesley did ask me to go to Galatasaray and be with him, yes.

"But we spoke and now he's very happy with this step in my career.

"He is happy that I'm at Dundee United now because I am happy.

"Yeah, he liked the idea of us playing together.

"For me, not now. Maybe later!"
