Colorado Rapids finally acquire Cameroon striker Eloundou

Colorado Rapids have finally secured the services of promising striker Charles Eloundou.

The 19-year old Cameroon attacker, who made his international debut last year, was initially acquired by the Rapids in a weighted lottery last January.

Issues pertaining to his international transfer certificate hindered the original move but they have now been cleared up and he is free to join the MLS club.

Of Eloundou, who trained with the Rapids late last year, technical director Paul Bravo said: "Charles is a great young player with a lot of potential, and we got to see his skill in person at the very end of 2013.

"This permanent transfer gives us another exciting, attacking player on our roster who can help both right away and in the future. After a strong SuperDraft, Charles is another addition that fits our model and we look forward to welcoming him at the start of our preseason."

Eloundou, who joins from homeland club Coton Sport, added: "I am extremely excited to be joining MLS.

"I had interest from [other countries], but I sat down with my advisors and we picked Colorado because we feel it is the best place for me at this stage of my career. It is a new adventure, and I look forward to improving as a player, continuing my development and hopefully doing very well."
