Atletico Madrid have moved to trump Corinthians for Paraguay midfielder Oscar Romero.
The youngster was expected to sign permanently with Corinthians, only for Atletico to make contact with his club, Cerro Porteno about taking him to Europe in January.
Cerro Porteno president Juan José Zapag admits Atletico are in contact and Romero's move to Corinthians is no longer guaranteed.
Romero's twin brother, Angel, is already playing for the Brazilian giants.
