Former Newcastle United midfielder Joey Barton is in talks to take the Bristol Rovers job.
The Daily Mail says Barton has held talks with Bristol Rovers about their vacant manager's position.
The League One club sacked Paul Tisdale last week and have a strong in interest in Barton, who is available after leaving his job as Fleetwood boss in January.
Rovers view the 38-year-old as one of brightest young managers in the EFL.
Discussions are said to have been constructive but as of yet no firm agreement for Barton to take the job has been reached.
