Agent Sogut exclusive: Arsenal and Arteta ideal for Kerem Akturkoglu

The agent of Kerem Akturkoglu has opened the door to a move to Arsenal in the near future.

Dr Erkut Sogut, who also handles Istanbul Basaksehir and former Arsenal star Mesut Ozil, admits a move to the Gunners would be something he'd recommend his client.

Turkey international winger Akturkoglu, 24, is in his third season with Galatasaray, where his progress has led to enquiries arriving from across Europe - not the least from England. And among those watching is Ozil's former club, Arsenal.

Sogut, speaking to Tribalfootbal.com, admits the attacking midfielder's game would suit the Premier League.

"You never know when it's the right time or right place to be honest, it depends on so many factors," says Sogut. "The right coach must be there, who likes the player and can develop the player.

"You know he's still a young player and it's a matter of timing.

"So when the right time is there, I think he will play in the Premier League, but at the moment he's just become a first team player for the national team as well, so he really is developing step by step, which is very important for the player not to overpace (things)."

Asked if he'd have any issues about negotiating with Arsenal, given reports of some tension with management over Ozil's final months with the club, Sogut dismissed the claims. Indeed, for Akturkoglu, Sogut says Arsenal and manager Mikel Arteta would be an ideal option.

He explained, "I think for a young player it's very important to go to a club where the coach wants you.

"As a coach right now you'd want to send young players to Arteta to develop because he always plays young players.

"Arsenal have that culture of taking players from their own youth (system) and bringing them up, which is unique - not many teams do that.

"So you always want a player to go to Arsenal and play and develop, especially as a young player."

Under contract at Gala until 2026, Akturkoglu has played 12 matches so far this season, scoring three times and providing one assist.
