Zuo Shusheng lauds Tianjin players despite likely ACL exit

Tianjin Teda Zuo Shusheng has praised his players despite being held to a draw at home and facing an early exit from the Asian Champions League.

The Chinese club drew 0-0 with Korean outfit Pohang Steelers, leaving them on the bottom of the Group H table, with little or no chance of progressing in the competition.

Despite this being the case, Zuo was proud of his players after the match.

"It is the first time that Tianjin has competed in the ACL and I had fielded the strongest squad to battle for a victory," said Zuo.

"It was a shame that we couldn't please our fans on home soil but I believe my players have done their best.

"We were in a very difficult situation before the crucial game against Pohang. Yet the players didn't give up throughout the match and showed their fighting spirit.

"We have to improve our shooting skills," he added.

"We also need to improve our passing skills to battle for control of midfield."
