Brazil great Zico has revealed he had the chance to join Manchester United as a coach.

Zico was linked with the assistant manager's job in 2008 while Sir Alex Ferguson was still in charge.

He recalled to the Daily Mail: "I don't know if the offer the person gave to me was true or not.

"But when Carlos Queiroz (United No 2) was probably going out of Manchester, they came to me and said do you want to be an assistant coach there?

"I said yes but after that nothing happened so I don't know!"
