Zenit striker Danny: I should be Chelsea player

Zenit St Petersburg striker Danny has revealed injury wrecked his move to Chelsea.

Danny claims he was poised to move to Stamford Bridge before picking up a serious knee injury last year.

"The injury made it a very difficult time for me," he complained in an interview with DN.

"It was this rupture of the cruciate ligaments which prevented my transfer to Chelsea, for example, and even before the injury, I nearly went to Juventus. It was a weird year as I could have achieved so much.

"Barcelona spoke with my agent because they would lose some players due to the African Cup of Nations. That was in early 2010 but it was not a good solution for me."

When asked which failed move hurt him the most, he answered: "Chelsea. Although the Spanish League is what attracts me most, I also really like the English League.

"But I understand their position. They have to think twice before hiring a player who has an injury."
