Zenit St Petersburg defender Branislav Ivanovic says Chelsea needs Roman Abramovich back at the club.

Blues owner Abramovich has been staying away from Stamford Bridge due to a visa dispute with the UK government.

The Serb said, "This is a new Chelsea team. The club did not have a perfect season last year, but still finished third. Chelsea need Roman Abramovich to return. It's the most important thing for all fans.

"We want to see him at Stamford Bridge again, then Chelsea will be one of the best teams in Europe again.

"He has been one of the most important people in my career and I appreciate everything he has done for me. During my tough times, he always believed in me. I owe him a lot."
