Zaha shuns Spurs and signs new five-year deal with Crystal Palace

In what is a huge coup for Crystal Palace, Wilfried Zaha has signed a new deal that will keep him at Selhurst Park until 2022.

The Ivory Coast international has made over 250 appearances with the Eagles over two spells and bagged 34 goals.

Tottenham was reported to have been in pursuit of the 24-year old, but the Palace academy product has instead decided to stay with the club he joined when he was eight years old.

"Palace is in my heart and I don't think the story is over. I spoke with Steve [Parish, chairman] and I think I still have more to give this club," said Zaha.

"The supporters have been amazing and I want us to do more than just stay in the league next year.

"I would like to thank the chairman for being a big part of my journey and his fellow owners for backing me and rewarding my progression. Let's do this."

Palace lost their manager on Tuesday when Sam Allardyce walked out of the club, but chairman Steve Parish has been given a lift after the re-signing of the two time reigning Eagles player of the year.

"Wilf has been with the club since he was eight years old and in the first team from the day I arrived.

"He is our talisman and someone that week in week out gives everything for the red and blue.

"I'm delighted he has committed his future to us and look forward to climbing up the table with him next year."
