Pablo Zabaleta felt Manchester City performed admirably in their Champions League opener on Wednesday night.
City defeated Borussia Monchengladbach 4-0 at the Etihad Stadium after their original fixture had been moved from Tuesday due to inclement weather and stand-in captain Zabaleta was delighted to get things started with a convincing display.
"We played really well and created a lot of chances so we're very pleased with the performance and that we've won the first game of our Champions League group stage," he said after fellow Argentine Sergio Aguero scored a hat-trick.
"It's going to be very tough and we're in a tough group so this is a great start."
Regarding the frustrations of having Tuesday night cancelled, Zabaleta admitted the conditions during the rescheduled match were also difficult to perform in, making City's win even more pleasing.
"It was frustrating because we'd been preparing for the game against Borussia Monchengladbach since beating United and it was frustrating not to play, but the weather conditions were terrible so there was nothing we could do," he added.
"Ironically, last night was too wet and today was too hot! But we're very happy."
