Zabaleta insists Man City fully focused on Man Utd despite Champions League progress

Manchester City may have reached the Champions League quarter-finals for the fist time ever during the week but they are certainly not thinking about the next round of the competition.

Pablo Zabaleta has made it clear that despite City's progress in Europe's elite competition, having navigated Dynamo Kiev in the Round of 16, there is 100% focus on this Sunday's Manchester derby with crosstown rivals Manchester United at the Etihad Stadium.

"I have been here a long time and know how special this game is," said the Argentine defender.

"Since Tuesday the media have talked about City making history in the Champions League, but here everyone is just talking about the derby.

"That's normal when a big game is coming - celebrate doing well in Europe if you like, but we are only thinking about United."

Zabaleta knows very well just how vital this encounter is to the Citizens and insists that the playing group are determined to give the faithful something to cheer about during the international break.

"We want to see City fans celebrating the derby and then we can start thinking about our national teams," he added.

"The players know how much this game means to the fans, but we also know we can't drop any points."
