Sammy Yu insists there was never any rows with Birmingham City boss Alex McLeish over transfers.

Yu has left the club as it's football consultant in the last week.

"Alex and I were fine, we are fine," Yu stressed to the Sunday Mercury. "It was not a case of me coming in to take over from him.

"He was given a free hand to do the things he wanted to do and I did nothing against him.

"My job was sharing of ideas, to help him and his players on the football side in any way, and to be a bridge for Carson (Yeung).

"Alex is all right now. He has agreed a new contract and the club can continue to go ahead as planned with him as manager."
