Young: That was not a Manchester United performance

Manchester United captain Ashley Young spoke to the media after their thrashing at Everton.

He says the only way the club can respond from the 4-0 hammering is by beating bitter rivals Manchester City on Wednesday night.

Young told Sky Sports: "From the first whistle we weren't good enough, it's as simple as that.

"We just weren't right and obviously playing an Everton team full of confidence.

"I don't think that was a Manchester United performance. It's disappointing and we have got four games left, we have got to dust ourselves down - we've got a big one on Wednesday.

"It will show our character, I know we have great talent and it's a big one for us on Wednesday now.

"You set your stall to go and be on the front foot and it just wasn't that. You still think if you get that first goal you can get something out of the game but it wasn't meant to be.

"It's crucial when you get the first goal. We couldn't concentrate on them it was us playing out there. When you're a Man Utd team, we had a first shot on goal late in the second half, it's not good enough."
