Young Socceroos squad announced

The Qantas Young Socceroos squad for the upcoming Asian Football Confederation U19 Championships has been announced. Following up from their win in this months ASEAN Championships in Thailand, the Young Socceroos will take a great deal of confidence into the tournament which kicks off on the 31st October in Dammam, Saudi Arabia. The tournament also doubles as qualification for the 2009 FIFA U20 World Cup in Egypt and coach Jan Versleijen has selected a 23-man squad which he believes can progress through to the World Cup finals. "We have had a good preparation which includes our recent win in Thailand," Versleijen said. "Following all our training camps and lead-up matches, I believe we have assembled the strongest possible squad for this important tournament. "It is important for Australian Football that we qualify for the World Cup to improve the development of this group of players." The Young Socceroos squad is as follows: Oliver Bozanic (Reading, ENG), James Brown (AIS), Isaka Cernak (QLD ROAR), Alex Cisak (Leicester City, ENG), Peter Cvetanovski (Borussia Monchengladbach, GER), Luke De Vere (QLD ROAR), Nathan Elasi (MELB VICTORY), James Holland (NEW JETS), Daniel Ireland (Coventry City, ENG), Marko Jesic (NEW JETS), Matthew Jurman (SYD FC), Ben Kantarovski (NEW JETS), Milos Lujic (MELB VICTORY), Ryan McGowan (Hearts, SCO), Sam Munro (SYD FC), Tahj Minniecon (QLD ROAR), Daniel Mullen (ADEL UTD), Jason Naidovski (NEW JETS), Mitchell Nichols (QLD ROAR), Thomas Oar (QLD ROAR), Andrew Redmayne (CCM), Sebastian Ryall (MELB VICTORY), Nikolas Tsattalios (SYD FC).
