Southampton defender Maya Yoshida is convinced they have the potential to be a top four challenger.

Yoshida has been buoyed by wins over Manchester City and Chelsea and says Saints can gate-crash the top four.

The Japanese international said: "We have a chance to be there within two years because we have signed top players on new deals like Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana, Jason Puncheon and Morgan Schneiderlin.

"We played well against the top sides like Chelsea and Manchester City.

"We have dropped points against teams around us.

"But if we bring new players in we'll have a bright future."
