Yobo happy seeing Iwobi at Everton

Everton hero Joseph Yobo is happy seeing Alex Iwobi at Goodison Park.

Former Arsenal midfielder Iwobi has enjoyed an impressive start to life on Merseyside with goals against Lincoln City and Wolverhampton Wanderers helping his new team to consecutive victories under Marco Silva.

"Everton is the perfect club for a brave player like Alex Iwobi and I know it's the right step to becoming a great player," he told BBC Sport.

"The manager is building an amazing team and he believes so much in Alex to add him to his squad.

"Already he has started well by scoring two headed goals and it's just the beginning of bigger things to come."

Iwobi had been at Arsenal for 15 years when he made the decision to join Everton on deadline day but Yobo, who became David Moyes' first signing in 2002, reckons the 23-year-old will 'blossom' at his new club.

"He's coming into a team full of good players, a traditional family club that is ready to back him on and off the pitch," the former Fenerbahce and Norwich defender added.

"Mentally it must be tough to leave a club like Arsenal where it all started for him, but this is a strong statement of intent to challenge himself."
