Manchester City icon Yaya Toure is happy to see Paul Pogba back to his best at Manchester United.

Pogba was often criticised for the defensive side of his game under Jose Mourinho but Toure believes he needs to focus on what he's good at – very much like how the Ivorian himself did at Manchester City.

"A player like myself, I just wanted to give more, I just wanted to produce more and I like the challenge," Toure told Sky Sports.

"Sometimes it's been very difficult to deliver in your best position and know what your best qualities are. Because to be like N'Golo Kante is impossible, it's impossible.

"But he can deliver like he has done in the past at Juventus. He can shoot from far, he can pass – it's what the fans want and its what the club has paid for this kind of player.

"What he has to do now is to continue to believe in himself. He's going to continue working hard and keep doing what he's doing."

When asked whether Pogba's confidence has risen because of the new regime, Toure said: "I think now Paul has more belief in his manager. And his manager has more belief in him to deliver and push his team-mates further.

"He has the quality to do that because when you see the World Cup in Russia, we saw a clip of him talking in the dressing room giving a speech to his team-mates – it was amazing.

"He's the type of player that needs a connection with his manager. Just being trusted and being told to push... feeling the love, if we can say that.

"That's good for United and that's good for the fans because this type of player needs to shine and show their quality.

"And at this moment, he's responded very well."
