Barcelona legend Xavi says they need to get back to their possession game.

The 39-year-old believes that the Catalans have lost part of their ability to prevail against opponents.

"I think Barcelona have to dominate games again, otherwise it is impossible to win the Champions League," Xavi told TV3.

"That's what history tells us as Barcelona first won the Champions League when they were winning LaLiga [Santander] and dominating matches.

"I think that now we aren't dominating [games] much."
