Xabi Alonso has revealed that Jamie Carragher was his favourite Liverpool teammate.
The Spanish midfielder, now with Bayern Munich, was a Reds player between 2004 and 2009 and made quite the impact at Anfield.
Looking back on his time on Merseyside, Alonso told Simon Hughes in 'Ring of Fire' - a book of Liverpool players' stories into the 21st century - that former defender Carragher was the one he got on with the best despite the now-pundit's confrontational personality.
"I liked Carra the most," said former Barcelona hero Alonso.
"He is the biggest Scouser in the world. We got on well from day one. I think he realised that I loved football and he loves football too.
"We would watch games together and talk about it every day. I think he respected that I would enter arguments with him. He was always very loud; you could hear his voice above everyone else's.
"I would say, 'Carra, shut the f*ck up, you have no idea!' He liked all of that: the confrontation."
