Wrighty: Levy must pay what Spurs striker Kane deserves

Arsenal legend Ian Wright has urged Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy to pay Harry Kane the going rate.

Writing for The Sun, Wright declared: "What Daniel Levy must do now is make sure that club is Spurs and no one else.

"I know Harry has been very open and honest about his love for Tottenham. Totally committed to the cause, with absolutely no desire to do it anywhere else.

"Yet the whispers continue that some day, maybe not too far in the future, Real Madrid will come calling.

"It is always easier to pledge loyalty when there is no tricky decision to be made. Which is why Levy has to dig deeper than ever before and put an end to any murmurs once and for all by breaking the bank for Europe's greatest scorer.

"Yes, I know Kane still has 4½ years left on his contract and I'm well aware he doesn't exactly scramble for loose change to buy a loaf and a pint of milk.

"But his latest landmark — hitting a century of Premier League goals — should be the spark that sees Levy make a statement of intent.

"If Harry is happy to stay at Tottenham, then pay him the wages his status merits."
