World Cup winning coach Deschamps: Pogba broke free from media pressure

World Cup winning coach Didier Deschamps has praised Paul Pogba for his influence on France's triumph.

The France boss told L'Equipe he was impressed with how Manchester United midfielder Pogba dealt with the media during the World Cup.

"Paul was relaxed," Deschamps said. “He knew why he was there. Paul managed to free himself from the burden created by the press."

And he also believes he should be in the running for the Ballon d'Or

“Of course, Raphael (Varane) deserves it," Deschamps said. “Will he win it? He is a defender... Generally speaking, it goes to more attacking players. With Kylian (Mbappe), he has time, but look at what he has already achieved! Do not forget Paul either -- just do not ask me to choose between them!"
