Wood praise as Pellistri makes winning Man Utd U23 debut

Facundo Pellestri made a winning debut as Manchester United U23 defeated Everton on Friday.

The former Penarol winger started for Premier League Two fixture, which United won 2-1.

Pellistri was given a full 90 by coach Neil Wood, as was Brandon Williams and teenager Shola Shoretire on the other flank.

Senior defender Marcos Rojo started the game and was substituted at halftime.

United came from behind after Ellis Sims had Everton ahead to win 2-1 through Anthony Elanga and an Ethan Galbraith penalty on 97 minutes.

“It was 'welcome to England!'" Wood told MUTV after the match. “But it was great for him to get 90 minutes on the pitch and a first taste of English football. I'm sure he can build from this experience."
