Wolves wrapping up signing of Sunderland's Elliott

Wolves are wrapping up the signing of Sunderland striker Stephen Elliott.

Elliott has agreed a three-year contract with Wolverhampton Wanderers after the Black Cats accepted a £1m bid this week and although the transfer has not yet been confirmed, the 23-year-old is expected to start next term at Molineux having headed to Ireland to join his new club's pre-season tour.

"Stephen's a good player, a hard worker and he's still young - I'm delighted to sign him," said Wolves boss Mick McCarthy.

"He's a great lad and he will fit in well here because of his nature and his character. He's a good footballer and he's hungry because he has missed a few games with injuries. But he seems to be right bang at it again and there's goals in Stephen - there's no doubt about that."
