Wolves veteran Moutinho: We still need to adjust Lopetegui methods

Wolves veteran Joao Moutinho says the players are still adjusting to the methods of new manager Julen Lopetegui.

The squad have spent the last 10 days out in southern Spain during the mid-season break for the World Cup, and head into a Carabao Cup last 16 clash with Gillingham at Molineux on Tuesday in high spirits having overcome La Liga outfit Cadiz CF in their final training match. But as the side head back to Wolverhampton, Moutinho admits the players still have plenty of improvements left in them.

He told the club's website: “It's a good training match. We are preparing what is coming – the start of the second-half of the season.

“I think we're doing well, we're training well here in Marbella and we did a good two games, and now it's a return, rest a little bit and start again.

“We know that if we train hard, it's very good, but for me, it's the match that will give you what you need for what is coming, for the games in the Premier League, and that is what the gaffer has done.

“He's tried to give minutes for our legs, and we did a good job, we play well, we score, we create opportunities, we defend well, and of course, we need to improve a lot, but we are on our way."
