Wolves skipper Henry convinced Maierhofer will be big success

Wolves skipper Karl Henry says Stefan Maierhofer is sure to make a hue impact this season.

The centre-forward struck on debut against Blackburn Rovers and Henry told the Birmingham Mail: "Stefan showed what he can do when he came on.

"He's a big target man, he won his headers and I'm pleased he got a goal. I think he can offer us another dimension. Chris Iwelumo's out and they're similar players but you need that outlet sometimes.

"Blackburn had a big man up front (Jason Roberts) and when you play direct like they did, it can cause teams all sorts of problems.

"I know people have been talking about the impact Emile Heskey and Peter Crouch have for England, and he gives us that option of being able to play a longer ball and then getting bodies around him."

Henry tipped Maierhofer to build on his goalscoring debut.

"It's difficult to find goals in this league but I think we've got some good quality strikers here," he said. "I was pleased he got his goal and I hope it's the first of many. He's very similar to big Chris, who's another one we've got to come back from injury.

"Sylvan Ebanks-Blake is on his way back too, which is a boost, and we've got all sorts of options to get the goals.

"But it's important not just for the strikers to score for their confidence, but as a team we do."
