Wolves, Newcastle made offers for Chelsea target Kamara

Several Premier League clubs made attempts for Olympique Marseille midfielder Boubacar Kamara over the summer.

The defensive midfielder was expected to leave OM, though eventually ended up staying after being left unimpressed by the offers tabled.

La Provence via Le 10 Sport says Wolves and Newcastle United made offers, but Kamara resisted.

Chelsea and AC Milan were also interested, though neither club made proposals for the midfielder.

Last season, the 21 year-old Kamara played 43 games for OM, producing two assists. The France U21 international now has less than 12 months to run on his current contract with Marseille.

The youngster has flourished in a defensive midfield role, though can also play at wing-back.

Before the market shut last week, OM president Pablo Longoria admits he had concerns about Kamara's situation as his contract runs down.

Longoria said: "It is a situation that is not pleasant. Especially when he's a club-trained boy. I don't like having players at the end of my contract at the club. I want this to be a strong signal."

This season, Kamara has been an ever present for OM in their opening three Ligue 1 games.
