Wolverhampton Wanderers are eager to sign Joao Palhinha from Sporting CP.
Wolves are aware the Portuguese club are in financial trouble after the COVID-19 outbreak.
Their president recently admitted they would have to sell players on the cheap.
And Palhinha, who is a defensive midfielder, has impressed on loan at Braga this season.
He has an £18 million buy out clause, but the Mirror reports that Wolves could get him for even less.
Palhinha would offer more options to boss Nuno Espirito Santo, given Wolves currently have one of the smallest squads in the top flight.
