Wolves defender Doherty reveals apology from Leicester star Vardy

Matt Doherty has revealed Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy apologised to him in the dressing rooms after he was sent off for a tackle on the Wolves defender.

With the Foxes up 2-0, Vardy launched into a tackle and caught Doherty with force. His dismissal handed Wolves a lifeline in the match. Leicester eventually held on for a 2-1 victory.

Speaking after the game, the recipient of Vardy's errant tackle said there was no hard feelings with the England striker.

"I'm fine, I've just got some stud marks," said Doherty. "My leg wasn't planted which was beneficial to me. I'm fine.

"I think if my leg was planted it would have been worse but a split-second before, I could see it coming, so I kind of rolled with it. He still caught me but I'm okay.

"To be fair he knocked and looked in and asked if everything was alright. I said it was fine so there were no hard feelings. He said his apologies, so I'm fine with that."
