Wolves defender Doherty delighted to prove matchwinner against Man City

Wolves defender Matt Doherty was delighted to prove the matchwinner in victory over Manchester City last night.

The Irishman's composed finish capped a sensational comeback, as Wolves came from 2-0 down to beat Manchester City in dramatic circumstance at Molineux.

Doherty said at the final whistle: “I was thinking to pass to Raul and hope he found the right touch, which he did, and he does quite often. I managed to shift it on to my left foot, then there's no better feeling in football than scoring last-minute winners.

“Obviously, I like to get forward and like to link with Raul. I've had many shots this season that haven't gone in, so it was pretty special."

He continued: “They're obviously a hard team to play against, when they went down to ten, you'd think it would have made it a little easier, but it didn't really. They showed what a class team they are with the two goals, but we felt we were always in the game.

“Once we got one you could feel the change in momentum. We really believe that we could get back in the game at that point and the fact that we did it shows our belief. To get two goals late on is a special feeling."
